Rudolf Ernest Fruend (1901-1955) was professor of Agricultural Economics at North Carolina State University (1946-1955). Freund was born in Psorzheim, Germany and received his Ph.D. from Heidelburg University. He left Germany in 1934 because of Hitler's rising regime and went to Sweden. He taught at the University of Virginia (1939-1946) before joining the faculty at North Carolina State College.
