The Kennebeck Lumber Company was created upon the acquisition of "... ten thousand two hundred sixty-six acres in township numbered one, in the sixth range of the Brigham Million Acre Purchase, west of the Kennebeck River, in the county of Somerset, generally known by the name of the "_Chase Stream Tract_ ..." The company's trustees were Rejoice Newton (1782-1868) and William Lincoln (1801-1843), both of Worcester, Mass.
