United Steelworkers of America. Local 1557 (Clairton, Pa.)
Local 1557 (District 13, now District 10) was a founding member of the Steel Workers Organizing Committee (1936-1942) and the United Steelworkers of America (USWA) (1942-). Its former president, Daniel W. Hannan, was then staff representative of the USWA Safety and Health Department, and led the USWA attempt to secure government controls of coke oven emissions.
