The North Carolina State University College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (PAMS) Advisory Council (known initially as the Science Council and later as the School of Physical Science and Applied Mathematics (PSAM) Council) was established in 1960 to serve as a unified faculty voice for the School (later, College). The council is comprised of representatives from all academic departments in the College, and meets regularily during the academic year to address issues facing faculty in the College, and the College as a whole. The PAMS Advisory Council remained active as of 2009. The School of Physical Science and Applied Mathematics was established at NC State in 1960; in 1977, it was renamed the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
