King (1924- ) was born in Eureka, Wisconsin to a German-American family.
He moved to Merrill (Wisconsin) at age one where he still lives today. King served in the Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division in World War II and saw combat during the D-Day invasion of Normandy. He worked at the Wisconsin Public Service Corporation and participated in the 101st Airborne Association, the Old Abe Chapter, and the VFW.
