Benjamin Seawell, sometimes spelled "Sewell" (1741 or 1742- 1821) was officer in the American Revolutionary War and member of the North Carolina General Assembly. He served in the militia as a lieutenant, a captain, and finally a colonel, receiving commendation from General Jethro Sumner.

Seawell was born in St. Andrew's Parish, Brunswick County, Va., resided in Bute County, N.C. (in the part that later became Franklin County, N.C.), and died in Lebanon, Wilson County, Tenn.
