Variant namesRegiment formed in late 1776 or early 1777 under the command of Colonel Otho Williams; ceased to function as an effective force after the Battle of Camden, August 1780; disbanded January 1781. During the 1780 campaign, Lieutenant Colonel Benjamin Ford was usually in command, as Williams was on staff duty.
