Incorporated in 1888, the company continued operations until its dissolution in 1925, becoming a part of the Great Northern Railway system. This collection consists primarily of correspondence between Spokane Falls and Northern Railway Company president Louis W. Hill, lesser corporate officials, and officials of the GN Railway. Correspondence covers matters of routine operation (e.g., personnel matters), but the collection also does include numerous financial statements and statistical operating reports. Prominent correspondents include L.W. Hill, H.A. Kennedy (vice president), superintendents F.S. Forest and R.C. Morgan, F.E. Ward (general manager), A.M. Thomas (auditor and secretary), J.D. Farrell (assistant to the president of the GN), Joseph W. Blabon (GN fourth vice president), M.D. Grover (GN general counsel), and Seattle attorney Thomas Burke.
