Wichern, Bertha, 1870-1961,
Born Bertha Bartz in West Prussia, Germany, daughter of Julius August and Otillie (Jahnke) Bartz. She was a twin, her twin sister was named Amelia. Immigrated with her family in 1880 to Ada, Minn. Began working about age eleven for a relative, and at age fifteen began working at Lockhart Farm. Wed John Wichern in 1891 or 1892. He died in 1953. She moved to Ada, Minn.
