Dr. Harry Morrison Rowe was born October 4, 1912, in Peacham, Vermont, son of Edward and Mary Rowe. At age nine, he suffered a life-threatening accident when he was kicked in the head by a horse but recovered with minimal lasting effects. Harry graduated from Peacham Academy in 1930, and from the University of Vermont with a bachelor's degree in 1936, and with a medical degree in 1943. He married Mary Whitney (1915-2002), of Northfield, Vermont, on August 28, 1940, and they raised six children. After serving in the 78th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during World War II, Mr. Rowe and his family settled in Wells River, Vermont, where he served as a general practitioner for 60 years. Harry Rowe was a member of the Wells River school board for 61 years as well as being a member of several medical organizations.
