Alejandro Garcia is a professor in the School of Social Work at Syracuse University, where he teaches courses in gerontology, social policy, and human diversity. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin, an MSW from California State University at Sacramento, and a Ph.D. from the Heller School of Brandeis University. Dr. Garcia moved to Syracuse in 1978 and has been an active member of the community. He has been on the boards of many organizations and is also a frequent contributor to the Syracuse Post-Standard. Dr. Garcia is the recipient of many local and national awards. His ethnic background is Mexican American.
