Physician and planter of Georgia, South Carolina, and Alabama; graduate, S.C. College (1849), Medical College of Georgia, and medical schools in Berlin, Vienna, and Paris; served Czar Nicholas as surgeon during Crimean War and awarded knighthood for his service; served as surgeon in 5th Georgia Regiment during Civil War; son of Georgia Superior Court Judge William White Holt; husband of Mary Elizabeth Dugas.
