Steuben Jenkins was a Democratic politician and lawyer from Wyoming, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. He worked for the Foreign Mail Bureau at the Post Office in 1853 and in 1855 formed Jenkins and Brother, a banking house in Wyoming, PA. He was active in state Democratic politics and tax reform and served from 1856-1857 in the State Assembly. He opened a law practice in 1858 and from 1863-1870 acted as Clerk and Counsel fo the County Commissioners. He devoted the remainder of his life to his law practice, farming and his historical and antiquarian pursuits.
