From the description of George J. Adams architectural clipping books, [ca. 1917-ca. 1920] (University of California, Berkeley). WorldCat record id: 38366224
Adams, along with J.C. Butterworth, served as agent of the Adams Print Works, established in 1853 in East Greenwich, R.I., perhaps with the backing of R.M. Larned, a Providence cotton dealer. Apparently in the 1860's the firm of Adams & Butterworth came into being with George J. Adams as treasurer. This firm had interest in several mills.
