William Calvin Sanders was born on July 28, 1842 in N.H. He moved with his family to Greeley, Colo. in 1870. Sanders was Weld County, Colo. Clerk (1874), first mayor of Greeley, Colo. (1879), and State Treasurer (1881-1882). Active in Weld County and Colo. Republican politics, he also worked for the Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska Railway; Colorado Midland Railway; and Union Pacific, Colorado, and Gulf Railway. He died in 1913.
