Lydia V. Swanson, a native of Nebraska, earned a B.S. (1923) from the University of Nebraska and an M.S. (1931) from Iowa State College (University). She was an instructor in the Dept. of Household Administration, and was then named Professor and Chair of Childhood Development Department (1936-1943). She returned to teaching and then retired in 1959. She received the Mary B. Welch Professorship for Home Economics.
