Harwood Foundation
Variant namesThe Harwood Foundation operates the Harwood Museum of Art in Taos, New Mexico. It was established in 1923 to support the public library and exhibitions located in the Harwood complex, which was then the home of artists Burt and Elizabeth Harwood. The Harwood Foundation became incorporated into the University of New Mexico in 1935. This mutually beneficial arrangement has allowed for the Harwood to receive support from the University and provided the University with a base of operations for its programs in Taos. The Foundation continues to maintain the Harwood Museum as a regional center of culture and education into the present day.
