National Association for Regional Ballet

The National Association of Regional Ballet originated in 1956 when the first Regional Ballet Festival arranged by Dorothy Alexander in Atlanta was hosted by the Atlanta Civic Ballet. It was officially incorporated in 1963 as a non-profit organization. NARB organized yearly regional festivals in order to train choreographers and promote excellence in performance.

In 1976 NARB launched their choreography conferences with the objective of developing the talents of aspiring choreographers. Craft of Choreography conferences were held every summer in different parts of the country.

The National Association for Regional Ballet suspended its operation in August 1987 shortly after its 25th anniversary because of fiscal deficits.
