Gauss is regarded as one of the greatest mathematicians in history, and he made deep and fundamental contributions to many areas of mathematics, but his position was as the Director of the Göttingen observatory.

Möbius was a 19th century German mathematician and theoretical astronomer. Like Gauss, he is best known for his mathematical work, which includes Möbius transformations, the Möbius mu-function, and the Möbius strip.
