Lyman Chapman graduated from OAC in 1930, and then helped with soil survey field work in Kent, Grenville and Middlesex counties. He was later employed by the Ontario Research Foundation where he worked on the soils and physiography of southern Ontario for 37 years. His activities resulted in the publication of three editions of the "Physiography of Southern Ontario." L. Chapman also did consulting work in finding gravel deposits and soil for race tracks.
