Charles Edwin Bradt was born 7 November 1863 in LaPorte, Indiana. When he was six his mother died, and his father Isaac remarried. In 1870 the family traveled via covered wagon from Michigan to Nebraska, where Charles remained with his grandparents. His father died and his stepmother remarried and moved away, leaving him behind in Nebraska. Charles worked in a print shop and served as Pastor for the 2nd Presbyterian Church of Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1896 he moved to Wichita, Kansas to take over the pastorate of the 1st Presbyterian Church there. He served in this capacity until 1905, developing programs that supported international missionary work. He also published and printed books under the Missionary Press Company of Wichita. After that he was a field secretary for the Presbyterian Board of Foreign Missions, working out of Chicago, Illinois and serving until his death in 1922. Charles Bradt was buried in Highland Cemetery, Wichita, Kansas.
