Charles Herman Liebert was born in Newport, Kentucky in the 1850s. He was hired by the Singer Manufacturing Company to read and prepare replies to its German correspondence. He remained with Singer for more than sixty years and, for many years before his retirement, was chief cashier. Liebert passed all of his adult life in New York City and was active in several clubs. He died in 1936.
