Meldrum, George, 1737-1817.

Born about 1737, he engaged in trade in Detroit as early as 1768. In 1788 Lord Dorchester appointed him a commissioner of the District of Hesse. Although in 1796 he signified is intention of remaining a British citizen, he continued to live in Detroit, where he died, Apr. 8, 1817. For many years he was a member of the firm of Meldrum & Park. About 1782 he married Marie Angelique Chapoton. Their farm was Private Claim 18. (from Burton Historical Records, I, 293) (blue index cards)
