Kiehle, Frederick Andrew, M. D.

Frederick Andrew Kiehle was born in Preston, Minnesota 1872 August 10. He received his BS and MD from the University of Minnesota in 1901 and moved to Portland, Oregon in 1908 to open a practice specializing in diseases of the ears, eyes, nose and throat. He was an instructor at the University of Oregon Medical School in the Department of Ophthalmology from 1912-1918 and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology from 1918-1929. He was head of the department until 1945 when he achieved the rank of Professor Emeritus. Dr. Kiehle was the director of the Portland Public Library Association, a surgeon for the Great Northern Railway Company and Spokane, Portland &Seattle Railway Company and surgeon at the Oregon and Washington Schools for the Blind and the Children’s Home in Portland. He was a member of numerous professional and lay associations. He retired in 1950 and moved to Palo Alto, California, where he died, 1952 March, at 80 years of age.
