Ames, Oliver, 1831-1895
Variant namesOliver Ames, 1831- 1895, Governor of Massachusetts in 1887-1890. He was son of Oakes Ames, (1804-1873) and nephew of Oliver Ames (1807-1877), the President of Union Pacific Railroad Co. In 1873 he was named as one of the executors of his father' estate. He was on the Board of the Union Pacific in 1874-1877, and served as a board member and director of several industrial companies, banks, and railroads, including the New Orleans, Mobile, & Texas, and Central Branch of the Union Pacific Railroad Company.
