During his life, Oscar F. Buss worked as a bookkeeper with different Ann Arbor companies, one of them being Symons Food, a grocery retail company. Buss was also an amateur photographer who beginning in the early 1920s took hundreds of photographs documenting life and activities within the city of Ann Arbor, Michigan and at the University of Michigan. In addition to views of the city and its buildings, Buss was present with his camera at numerous community events: parades, football games, commencements, building construction sites, comings and goings at the train station, and student activities.
