National Women's Conference Committee (U.S.)
Variant namesEstablished by a mandate from the first National Women's Conference, Houston, Tex., 1977, the National Women's Conference Committee was designed to represent and sustain grassroots groups working for women's equality. The NWCC is (or represents) a network of individuals as well as national, state and local women's groups; its purpose has been to mobilize support for the national plan of action issued by the 1977 conference, which addressed the legal, economic, and social changes needed to ensure equality.
