James Franklin Starr was a University of Virginia student and former Confederate Major from Nacogdoches, Texas. Afterwards a land agent and banker in Marshall, Texas. Amory Reily Starr was a Confederate veteran from Nacogdoches, Texas and afterwards a land agent, member of the secret Knights of the White Camellia and Democratic politician in Marshall, Texas.
