Eliza Vachell Hope

Eliza Vachell Krauss, later known as Hope (1879-1968) was employed as a private governess and as a nurse at Guy's Hospital. She was accepted as a missionary by the Church Missionary Society (CMS) in 1912 and sailed for the Fukien Mission in China in that year. She served at the CMS Hospital at Hing Hwa until her resignation from the CMS in 1936. She changed her name to Eliza Vachell Hope in October 1918 and she also appears to have been known by the name of Elsie Hope.
