Theodore Learnard Badger (TLB), 1899-1980, pulmonologist, was Clinical Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Chairman of the Cardiopulmonary Unit at New England Deaconess Hospital where he specialized in the treatment of tuberculosis. Badger received the MD from Harvard Medical School in 1926, and joined the faculty of in 1935. Badger's efforts to educate the public on the dangers of second-hand cigarette smoke to non-smokers and hospital patients eventually led to the implementation of ordinances banning smoking in Boston hospitals in the 1970's.
