Established by the Laws of 1953, the Public Health Council consists of the Commissioner of Health plus 14 members appointed by the commissioner with the consent of the of the governor for a 6 year term. CURRENT FUNCTIONS:The Council has no executive, administrative, or appointive duties. At the request of the Commissioner of Health, it considers any matter relating to the preservation and improvement of public health and may from time to time submit recommendations to the Health Commissioner as it may deem necessary.
