Frederick T. White a native of Fall Branch and a veteran of the Spanish-American War, married Elizabeth Lee McCary, also a Fall Branch native. This couple had two daughters: Mary Elsie White and Freddie Lee White Spina. Mary Elsie White, graduated from East Tennessee State College and became a teacher in Johnson City and a leader in the city's Girl Scout Program. In 1934, she became executive director of the Johnson City Girl Scout Council, where she helped develop Camp Wildwood. In 1954, she helped charter the Appalachian Girl Scout Council, the first regional Girl Scout council in the United States. There is also one 45 rpm recording of Wiley Oakley telling stories of the Great Smoky Mountains.
