Stone, George Whitefield, 1840-1923.

George Whitefield Stone (1840-1923) served as a captain in the First Volunteer Corps, Cortland County, New York, during the Civil War. He was elected treasurer of the American Unitarian Association in 1891 and was ordained to the Unitarian ministry in 1898 in Boston, Massachusetts. He served parishes in Kansas City, Missouri, and Oakland, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, and Santa Cruz, California. From 1911 to 1913 he served as the mayor of Santa Cruz, California.

Unitarian minister; ordained 1898; served All Soul's (Kansas City, Mo.) in 1899 and also as Field Agent there for the American Unitarian Association in 1900; served as Field Secretary 1900-1907 in San Francisco, Calif.; and as minister All Soul's (Santa Cruz, Calif.) 1908-1910.
