The Division of Commodity Distribution administers two federal programs in Kentucky, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Distribution program and the Commodity Supplemental Feeding Program (CSFP). The USDA Food Distribution program, which is administered by the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), provides food for school children. The program also provides food for the disadvantaged in non-profit hospitals, nursing homes, soup kitchens, correctional facilities, group homes, halfway houses, spouse abuse centers, vocational schools, and children's homes. The CSFP provides food for women, infants and children in low income groups, who are subject to malnutrition.
