Fitch family
Jonathan Gorham Fitch (d. 1822) and his wife Sarah of Hornchurch, England, had at least three children: Frederick Charles (1809-1827), Eliza Jane, and Emily. The family arrived in Baltimore, Maryland, around 1822, and Sarah and her daughters moved to Nantucket, Massachusetts, following Jonathan's death in 1822. The women remained in the United States until returning to England in 1829. Frederick Charles Fitch worked as a sailor onboard the Weymouth, and died of an illness near San Francisco, California, on November 3, 1827. The Fitch family's English relatives included Thomas and Jane Bonus and Charles Cove, all residents of Hornchurch.
