William Evans Darby, minister, peace activist and writer, was born in Laugharne, Carmarthenshire. He was educated at Tenby, New College, Hampstead and London University. In 1869 Darby was ordained as a Congregational minister. Darby also trained as a lawyer and served as vice-president of the International Law Association. He was most active in peace organizations and served as vice-president and secretary of The Peace Society, 1888-1915. Darby also worked with International peace organizations. He has published several books, essays, and sermons including, The Christ method of peace-making.
