Charles Andrew Johnson, a native of New Haven, Connecticut, was a lawyer in New Orleans, Louisiana. He served as judge for the 2nd Judicial District at Donaldsonville in 1843, and in 1855, began a partnership with Henry Denis in the New Orleans firm Johnson, Denis, Berault and Legendre.
