Mary Calista Willard was born April 18, 1863, in Cottonwood, California, the daughter of Henry D. and Mary (Wakefield) Willard and grand-daughter of Alexander H. Willard, a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. She married Virgil Arthur Scott at age 15. They had a daughter named Stella, born about 1891. Calista Scott became a hotel manager and real estate agent in the Los Angeles area. She died May 10, 1916, in Glendale, Los Angeles county, California.
