(For history of the Lutheran Council in the USA (LCUSA), see OCLC #38922091.) LCUSA's Division of Public Relations was established in 1967 at the Council's founding. In 1973, it was renamed the Office of Communication and Interpretation. The Office of Public Affairs became part of the newly created LCUSA Office of Public Affairs and Governmental Relations in 1973. (The Office was renamed the Office for Governmental Affairs in 1977.) The LCUSA was terminated in 1987 at the founding of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
