Biographical Note
Esther Bridgman Clark, daughter of Arthur B. Clark, Stanford's first art professor, was one of the first women doctors in Palo Alto. She earned her a.b. from Stanford University in 1921 and her M.D. from Stanford University Medical School in 1925. She began her pediatric practice in Palo Alto in 1927 and was a founding partner of the Palo Alto Medical Clinic. She joined the clinical faculty of the Medical School in the 1930s; in 1953 she established the Children's Health Council. She retired from medicine at the age of 72 to pursue interests in travel and photography.
