Catherine Stock was born November 26, 1952, in Stockholm, Sweden. Here father was a career diplomat, so she spent her childhood in France, England, South Africa, Hong Kong, and the United States. The various cultural backgrounds in which she has spent her life are reflected in her books. She is best known as an illustrator whose work has been described as tender, fanciful, boldly colored, and factually accurate. She has received a number of awards and honors for her work.
