Methodist-circuit rider of the Philadelphia and New Jersey conferences, serving variously in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and New Jersey (Gloucester, Cumberland, Camden, Burlington, Mercer, Monmouth, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties); lived in several South Jersey localities, finally (from ca. 1852) at Trenton. His daughter Mary removed in 1874 from Flemington, New Jersey, to Trenton.
