The Minnesota Kicks, a professional soccer team in the North American Soccer League, began in 1976 when a group of Minnesota investors who earlier had bought the Denver Dynamos team moved it to Minnesota. Games were played in Metropolitan Stadium, Bloomington. The Kicks continued soccer in Minnesota through the 1981 season. Freddie Goodwin coached the team from 1976 to 1978 and from 1980 to 1981; Roy McCrohan coached the 1979-1980 season, and Geoff Barnett coached the 1981 season.

In November 1980 the team was sold to a group led by Ralph Sweet. The team dissolved in 1981.

The Minnesota Kicks played two seasons of indoor soccer between 1979 and 1981 at the Met Center.
