Hurd-Mead, Kate Campbell, 1867-1941
Variant namesPhysician and historian of women in medicine (Women's Medical College of Pennsylvania, M.D., 1888), Mead was a founder of the Evening Dispensary for Working Women and Girls of Baltimore City, active in medical organizations in Middletown, Ct., president of the American Medical Women's Association, organizer of the Medical Women's International Association, and author of two published works on women in medicine. She married William Edward Mead, professor of English at Wesleyan University, in 1893.
