Theodore M. Joslin (Nov. 25, 1829- ) was the son of John and Roxana Chandler McEwen Joslin. He was born in Madison County (N.Y.). In 1889 and 1891 he taught school in Jackson County (Mich.). He later worked as a lawyer in the firm of Lamb and Joslin in Adrian (Mich.). Joslin ran unsuccessfully as a Progressive Party candidate for the U.S. Senate (1912) and s a Republican candidiidate for the Mich. gubanatorial nomination (1922). He married Mary E. Bebout in Ohio on July 13, 1859. Together they had one child, Helen I. (June 20, 1860- ). Joslin married Jannette L. Holton on June 28, 1867. Together they had one daughter, Mary H. (Sept. 10, 1871-July 23, 1952). Mary later married Theodore M. Joslin, her fifth cousin on Aug. 15, 1895. They moved to N.D., where they had two daughters, Helen E. and Cora E., and a son, Merril W. (died as an infant). Theodore, Sr., managed the unsuccessful 1918 campaign of George B. Horton, Republican nominee for Mich. Governor, and successfully promoted Hazen S. Pingree for Mich. Governor in 1896. Mary and her husband operated the Adrian Realty Co. in Adrian (Mich.), 1911-1938. Theodore, Sr. also compiled and wrote Origins and history of the Joslin family, a copy of which is in the Clarke Historical Library. (Information from the collection.).
