Charles Crispin was born June 7, 1882 in Pennsylvania. In 1910 he and his parents were living at West 12th Street, New York, NY. His father, Louis Crispin was working as a superintendent of a department store and his mother Susan Crispin was not employed. Charles worked as a clerk in a department store.

In 1917 he married a Canadian, Irene, last name unknown, and around that time moved to 448 Broadway. Flushing, New York (now on the north side of Northern Boulevard between 150th Place and Murray Street). On April 12, 1918, while working at Union Carbide and Carbon Corporation, he was drafted. Apparently he never served in the war possibly because he was too old.

Sometime between 1910 and 1920 his mother, Susan Crispin, died. In 1920 his father lived at 112 West 76th Street, New York, NY and was a superintendent of a dry goods store.

In 1930 he and Irene lived on 94th Avenue in Flushing. He was working as a manager at a factory and she was not employed. Little else is known about Charles Crispin.

John Huston Church was born in Glen Iron, Pennsylvania June 28, 1892. He attended New York University from 1915-1917 and entered the United States Infantry as a second lieutenant on May 16, 1917. By the end of the war he was a first lieutenant, the commander of his company and received the Distinguished Service Cross. He advanced through the ranks eventually becoming a brigadier general. He served in all the major conflicts the United States was involved in from World War I to the Korean War. He died November 4, 1953.
