John Eberson attended the University of Vienna prior to immigrating in 1901 to the United States, where he was initially employed as a stage designer and painter. In 1909, he established an independent office. Working out of Chicago, Eberson designed over 100 theaters in the US and Europe, building a reputation as the premier "Atmospheric" theater designer of the time.
