Crawford John Markland Conybeare
Crawford John Markland Conybeare was born in Preston Oxfordshire in 1854 the son of the Rev Charles Conybeare an Oxford don. Conybeare joined the Royal Navy in 1867. He was sub lieutenant in Discovery during the British Arctic Expedition, 1875-1876 (leader George Strong Nares) and spent a periods in Alert during the expedition. He died in September 1937
