Hagen, Olaf Jensen, 1872-1965.
Born in Wisconsin in 1872, Olaf Hagen came to North Dakota with his family a year later. He grew up on a small farm on the Wild Rice River, and always considered himself to be an early Dakota pioneer. He began practicing medicine in Moorhead in 1906. He was one of the founders of the Fargo Clinic, served on numerous medical boards, including the American College of Surgeons, and was involved in the development of the Mayo Clinic. Also involved in education, Hagen was a resident director for Moorhead State Teachers College and a member of the University of Minnesota Board of Regents. He also ran for the U.S. Senate in 1940.
