Claude Currie was a Democratic state senator of Durham, N.C. Currie was born in Montgomery County, N.C., and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He first served as state senator in 1927 and subsequently served 1945-1972, excepting the 1951 session. In 1971 Currie represented the 11th District, composed of Durham, Orange, and Person counties, and he was chairman of the senate Committee on Public Health. As a private citizen in Durham he was chairman of the board of directors of Security and Loan Association.
